Notah Begay III wins the Cypress Lakes Open

4-Time PGA Tour Champion shoots 68 on Cypress Lakes' Pure Rolling greens.
4 Time PGA Tour Champion Notah Begay captured the Tight Lies Tour Cypress Lakes Open on November 10th and 11th at Cypress Lakes Golf Club. Begay shot a 4 under 68 in the first round, and won the event in a playoff over Andrew Dresser when the event was halted halfway into round 2 due to inclement weather. Begay parred the Tough 18th Hole at Cypress Lakes to win his first event on the Tight Lies Winter Series Tour. Begay was impressed with the golf course. "This course is great!", said Begay. "It's a golf course that can play really tough, or not so tough, but the greens are just so good". Begay added that the windy conditions made Cypress Lakes Golf Club show it's teeth. "Great golf course, and fun to play". Head Professional Tim Poulos, who played alongside Notah Begay was pleased with the outcome. "When you have a player as successful as Notah come out here and win the tournament, it's a great compliment". Added Poulos, "but when you hear him talk about how much he likes this course and our greens, it speaks volumes about the work our Superintendent Jared Bonar and his staff are doing." Cypress Lakes is already in the works to hold the 2009 Cypress Lakes Open as well.
